Synopsis: Bernie and Rebecca's first date is about to end but somehow a connection is made. Over a glass of wine, they imagine a life of dating, marriage, children, parenthood, infidelity and divorce. It's an imperfect life that may turn out to be perfect.

Biographies:

DIRECTOR – MELISSA KENT: Melissa Kent is making her directorial debut with the short film BERNIE AND REBECCA. Until now she has made her career as a feature film editor. Her credits include indie fare: THE VIRGIN SUICIDES; dramas: THE AGE OF ADALINE, THE VOW, THE SISTERHOOD OF THE TRAVELING PANTS 2, CRAZY/BEAUTIFUL; and comedies: FOUR CHRISTMASES, JUST WRIGHT, SOMETHING NEW. She recently completed Ewan McGregor’s directorial debut, AMERICAN PASTORAL, based on the Pulitzer Prize winning novel by Philip Roth, and starring Ewan McGregor, Jennifer Connelly and Dakota Fanning. It will be released in October 2016. Melissa is represented by Jay Gilbert at Agency for the Performing Arts (APA).

WRITER – JOHN F. HARRIS: John is a screenwriter who has received numerous awards for his short and feature scripts from organizations such as the Page International Screenwriting Awards (Page), Hollywood Screenplay Contest and the Las Vegas Film Festival. His short screenplay, BERNIE AND REBECCA, won the Gold Award as Best Short Screenplay in the 2013 Page competition. John was the Executive Producer for a short film, PLAYING THROUGH, which he also wrote. It screened at over a dozen film festivals including the Virginia Film Festival, Palm Beach International Film Festival, Bahamas International Film Festival and the Carmel Art & Film Festival, and received numerous writing awards. John is a member of the Advisory Board for the Virginia Film Festival and serves on the screening committee. John’s prior career includes serving as the Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer for the Carlyle Group, a global private equity firm. John currently serves on the Boards of several non-profits including the Boys and Girls Club of Central Virginia, as the Chairman of the Board of Managers of the University of Virginia Alumni Association, a Trustee of the Jefferson Trust, and the Charlottesville Tom Sox, a summer baseball league for college players. John recently served on the board of Worldstrides, a global educational travel company owned by Carlyle, and is a board observer for Locus Health. John is a graduate of the University of Virginia and is married to Amy Bowler Harris. They have two children, Caroline and James, and reside in Charlottesville, Virginia.
