Gary Sommerstein is an entertainment attorney with over twenty-four years of experience in the full service representation of clients in film, television, and digital/multi-media matters, including major motion picture and television studios and distributors, independent producers, writers, film financiers, actors, and celebrities. Clients of Mr. Sommerstein have included MGM, Summit Entertainment, Lionsgate, Nintendo, Miramax, Sonar Entertainment, IDW Entertainment, Televisa, and the six time Oscar winning producer Arthur Cohn.
In early 2010 Mr. Sommerstein launched the Law Office of Gary I. Sommerstein, a boutique law firm based in Beverly Hills with a mission to be able to cost effectively service the needs of major entertainment clients. Prior to this, Mr. Sommerstein was an entertainment partner at Pryor Cashman, and was a Partner and the Head of the Entertainment Practice Group at Christensen, Glaser, Fink, Jacobs, Weil & Shapiro, a 130 person entertainment law firm in Los Angeles.
Mr. Sommerstein was admitted to the California Bar in 1990, is a 1990 graduate of the University of Southern California Law School, and is a 1987 graduate of UCLA.
Mr. Sommerstein is a member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, is a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, and is a past Advisory Board Member of the UCLA Department of Neurosurgery.
Mr. Sommerstein has been recognized by California Law Business as one of the top entertainment lawyers in Los Angeles and is recognized as one of Southern California’s “Superlawyers”.
