Synopsis:
Lucia has been living in England since the 1990s Balkans War. This is the story of her journey home to Croatia, to introduce her English-speaking son to her elderly mother. She finds her eccentric mother living in a rural farmhouse and comedy ensues as Lucia tries to ‘modernise’ her traditional way of living. But Lucia cannot escape the traumatic remnants of the war, particularly when tragedy beckons as she discovers they are surrounded by minefields.

Biographies:
Nicole Volavka trained in music, dance and drama as a child, before studying Psychology and Philosophy at Sheffield University. She started her film career in 2002 with internships at Working Title, Heyday Films and on the features “Love Actually” and “Vanity Fair”. Her first job was in Acquisitions at Miramax Films, before moving into the production side as Assistant To Director John McKay on the Julian Fellowes-penned feature “Piccadilly Jim”. She then assisted Michael Caton-Jones on the BBC Films feature “Shooting Dogs” in Rwanda. Her recent shorts “Survivor” and “Laundry” were part of her MA in Filmmaking at the London Film School where she was a recipient of a Skillset Scholarship. Nicole currently works as a researcher for Stephen Poliakoff, whilst developing two feature film scripts and another short. She is repped for commercials in Prague by Lucky Man Films.
