Synopsis: 

Marijn is six years old. Her dad is a cook and her mom is special, she can do magic when she eats something she loves. Marijn hopes she can do magic too when she grows up. The three of them are happy together. Then suddenly something happens that changes everything leaving Marijn to take care of herself.

Biographies: 

CAST

MARIJN:   EVA DEN HARTOGH

The lead role of Marijn was played by Eva den Hartogh. She was only five years old while shooting the film. She had never acted in a film before but during the audition and on set she turned out to be a natural.


MOM:     LIESBETH KAMERLING

Liesbeth Kamerling is a well known Dutch actress. She plays a wide variety of roles in feature films, short films and TV series.


DAD:     MATIJN HARTEMINK

Mattijn Hartemink is a well known Dutch actor. Over the years he played various roles in many films, TV shows and in the theater.

WRITER, DIRECTOR & PRODUCER:    LILIAN SIJBESMA

Lilian Sijbesma graduated in 2010 as a director and scriptwriter at the Utrecht School of the Arts. "Marijn" is her graduation film. In several projects throughout the recent years she has practiced the skill of working with children. This is something she loves to continue doing. She also loves to use the possibilities of film to add something to the filmworld that would not be possible in real live. By doing so, in the narrative and in the visualization of the story-world, she tries to pull the spectator into the world the main character lives in. Since "Marijn" Lilian has been working on a few new short film projects.


DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY:    PAUL CASPERS

Paul graduated at the Utrecht School of the Arts where he specialized in cinematography. At a young age he discovered that the world became more beautiful while looking through a lens. During his studies Paul shot different projects ranging from drama, documentary, commercial & music video. Besides "Marijn" Paul also shot the short films "Sterk/ Strong" by director Yim Brakel & "Schemering/Dusk" by Simon Claassen. Outside his studies he also shot "De Waalsprong" by Ruut van der Beele and the documentary "Stilte/ Silence" by Catelijne van der Sanden. These were all different projects that got a strong visual signature. At the moment Paul is working on several projects that are in pre production including a short film and a documentary that will take him to Iraq.


EDITOR:   JAN VAN GORKUM

In 2010 Jan van Gorkum graduated as an editor and scriptwriter at the Utrecht School of the Arts (HKU), where he studied Audiovisual Media. During his study he also directed several short films. He currently works as a freelance editor, scriptwriter and director. He recently directed his first independent short film called "Tussenstop" (Rest Stop), based on a short story by Stephen King.


PRODUCTION DESIGNER:    FEMKE HOEBE

Femke Hoebe graduated from the Dutch Film Academy as an Art Director  in 2006. She has been working on short films, features and commercials both as an art director or/and propmaster ever since. To her a strong content is from great importance to create a world for the screen.


MUSIC:    ARJAN DE WIT

Arjan de Wit (1982) graduated as a European Media Master of Arts from Composition in Context course at Utrecht School of the Arts, The Netherlands. Currently, he is working as a composer and producer at Room Service Music. His expertise lies in film composition and artist production, using contemporary music techniques.


SOUNDDESIGN:   BASHEL DE VRIES

Bashel de Vries is a freelance sounddesigner/soundartist based in Utrecht. In 2010 he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree (sound-design) at the Utrecht School of the Arts. During his study he became interested in the interaction between image & sound, and specialized on the subject: sound-design for motion-pictures. Nowadays he's working on different kinds of projects related to sounddesign for motion-pictures (c.q. short films, animations, commercials, games) which are in need for some special sound-treatment.
