Biographies:

Caroline Kepnes - Writer/Director/Producer Miles Away is the directorial debut of Caroline Kepnes. Earlier this year she signed a two book deal with Emily Bestler Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster. Her novel YOU, a "perversely romantic" story of obsession, will be released in September, 2014. Caroline grew up on Cape Cod and played number one singles in tennis. After graduating from Brown University, she moved to New York and embarked on a career as an entertainment journalist. She has contributed to Entertainment Weekly, E! Online and Tiger Beat. She has also written for television--7th Heaven and The Secret Life of the American Teenager--and seen dozens of her short stories published and honored in contests. She splits her time between Cape Cod and Los Angeles as she writes her second book and prepares to adapt another short storm to film.
Kate Fujimoto - Producer/Costume Designer Kate is a Brown University graduate who grew up in Los Angeles. She has worked as a fashion designer and product manager for firms such as Betsey Johnson, Trina Turk and Guess. She runs her own business, Kate Fujimoto Event Design. With an emphasis on color, texture and trim, she treats events as landscapes similar to fashion designs, and applies her expertise to every aspect of presentation. She also worked in costume design on The Manchurian Candidate and Beloved.         Lorena David Esguerra - Editor/Associate Producer Lorena is a California native who has extensive experience in film and television. She produced the films Water & Power, Strangers with Candy and Danika, among others. She was the Executive Producer of My Ride Rules, a TV series. And her editorial credits include Shahs of Sunset and various short films.
Markus Mentzer - Producer/Cinematographer Markus is a Brown University graduate who loved the short story "Sky Miles" and, with his wife Kate Fujimoto, approached Caroline about adapting it to film. Markus has worked as a camera operator on many films, including Kitchen Sink, Horrible Bosses, Cameron Crowe's next film and the TV series Ben and Kate.
Kim Beuche - Mom Kim Beuche is proud to be a part of Miles Away. She attended NYU, Tisch School of the Arts, Circle in the Square. She has acted in numerous award winning independent films. Most recently the Sundance award winning Obselidia.
Frank Medrano – Miles Frank Medrano was inspired to pursue a career in acting when he heard Joseph Campbell say "follow your bliss". Understanding this to mean to do the work that you can do tirelessly to the point of utter exhaustion but cannot wait to do it again the next day, he submitted himself for the first time to audition for a role in the independent film Almost Friends. This led to an audition then being cast for the first time in his life. (Actually not true. Frank was cast for the first time as The Wolf in kindergartens production of "Little Red Riding Hood" at the age of 5). Deborah Aquilla, a major casting director, saw Frank’s performance which led to him to being cast in one of the greatest films of all time The Shawshank Redemption. His role would lead to a career he could only imagine at the outset. Frank was born and raised in Manhattan, the son of immigrants from The Dominican Republic, Martha and Octavio Medrano. He served his country in The United States Navy from 1975 to 1979 onboard an aircraft carrier The USS Independence CV-62. Honorably discharged in 1979, Frank then moved to Boston Massachusetts to make use of his GI benefits and attend college, first Bunker Hill Community College then Mass Bay Community College then finally Fitchburg State College in central Mass. Frank has been fortunate in working with a who's who of A-list film directors such as Frank Darabont-The Shawshank Redemption, Barry Levinson-Sleepers, Ivan Reitman-Fathers Day, Brian Singer-The Usual Suspects, Tony Scott-The Fan and on. At the onset of his acting career Frank said to himself that he would die a very happy man if it came to pass that he would share a scene in a film with his acting hero Robert DeNiro. His dream came true not once but twice when he appeared alongside Mr. Deniro in both Sleepers and The Fan.              Samantha Ressler – Marnie Samantha is a Brown University graduate and Los Angeles native who has appeared in This is The End, Modern Family and Franklin and Bash.
