Synopsis:

'THE LIFT' is the dramatic story of Albert Brown, stuck on a stretch of Illinois highway in the summer of 1928, in need to get home to Chicago, when along comes Mary Lindsay, a free-spirited, opinionated woman, on a cross-country drive. She reluctantly grants him the favor of a ride, and they embark on a combative journey of discovery in an ever-changing world - a world he isn't ready to embrace. Only after a violent incident does Albert get the chance to return Mary's favor, and in his own special way reveal his shocking true identity.

Biographies:


Lyndon Barrois - Writer, Director THE LIFT For a hobby that began with sculpting athletes from chewing gum wrappers, Lyndon Barrois has fashioned a career in the world of filmed entertainment as an animator and animation director for the last eighteen years. A native New Orleanian and graduate of Xavier University of Louisiana and California Institute of the Arts, Lyndon's journey has taken him around the globe from Los Angeles to Sydney, Australia to Vancouver, BC. While a master's candidate at Cal Arts, he primarily focused on the techniques of stop motion animation, where he produced three short films utilizing his gum wrapper creations. Years later he secured his first industry job with Rhythm & Hues studios and has worked at a number of digital houses since, including Digital Domain, the former Esc, and Image Engine, with a stop-motion directorial stint at Wil Vinton studios in between as an episodic director for “The PJs”. His film experience spans a variety of genres with live action and fully animated features, including "The Matrix" sequels, "Happy Feet", "Alvin and the Chipmunks", “The Tree of Life”, “Sucker Punch” and the recent prequel to "The Thing", which earned him a 2012 Visual Effects Society Award nomination for Outstanding Animated Character in a Live Action Feature. He is currently in production as animation director on Universal’s “R.I.P.D” at Image Engine studio. Lyndon resides in Los Angeles, splitting time between there and Vancouver, BC on various film projects. "The Lift", a short film written by Lyndon, marks his live-action directing debut and is currently on the film festival circuit. Romell Foster-Owens - Producer THE LIFT Romell has been in the business of producing, writing and directing high quality, award-winning television series, made for TV movies, documentaries, and independent feature films for more than 20 years. Ms. Foster-Owens is a graduate of the prestigious American Film Institute where she majored in Film Directing and San Diego State University where she majored in Theatre Arts and Television Production and is the President of Jowharah Films. In 2009 Ms. Foster-Owens was selected to participate in the Producers Guild of America's Diversity Workshop. Two films Ms. Foster-Owens produced, Native New Yorker and Pins And Needles have the rare distinction of being accepted as Official Selections of the 2008 Cannes Film Festival. In 2008 Ms. Foster-Owens produced the award-winning films Stitches, Seems Like Yesterday and the documentary, Hollywood At Its Best. The Gang Alternatives Program PSA, which she produced for Women In Film, won the 2008 Platinum AURORA Award for "Best In Show" and a Bronze ADDY Award. The Women In Film PSA she produced, wrote and directed for the City Ballet of Los Angeles will be released in 2009. In 2004 Ms. Foster-Owens was selected as a producer to participate in Robert De Niro's Tribeca Film Festival's esteemed Tribeca All Access Program. Lillian E. Benson - Editor THE LIFT Lillian's professional body of work as a television, video and feature film editor spans almost thirty years. In 1990 the native New Yorker was nominated for an Emmy for her work on the acclaimed civil rghts series “Eyes On the Prize II”. She contributed to films that have garnered five Emmy nominations, four Peabody Awards, and numerous other honors. Recent films she edited include Frontline’s “God In America” (Fall 2010 broadcast), and Wounded Knee, the closing episode of “We Shall Remain”, a series on Native American history produced by WGBH. Wounded Knee tells the story of the 1972 takeover of the Pine Ridge Reservation. In 2004 Benson made her directorial debut with All Our Sons-Fallen Heroes of 9/11, a half-hour documentary about the firefighters of color who died at the World Trade Center. The film was broadcast nationally on PBS and was shown at the international film festival FESPACO, Burkina Faso, West Africa.
