Synopsis:

In postwar Japan, Tsuyako, a factory worker and mother must decide between duty and love, her family and her freedom.

Biographies:

DIRECTOR - MITSUYO MIYAZAKI

Originally from Osaka, Japan, Mitsuyo began her career as a stage performer/singer/actress at an early age. After receiving a Bachelor's Degree in Theater Arts, Dance Performance and Fine Arts from Southern Utah University, she moved to Los Angeles, where she has appeared in all areas of entertainment, and her photography has been published in magazines and newspapers in both the US and Japan. In 2006, she was a part of the production team of the Emmy Award-winning feature documentary Nanking. While a graduate student at the University of Southern California School, she was chosen as a finalist for the 2009 Coca-Cola Refreshing Filmmaker Award and the Cisco Systems Digital Crib Short Documentary Competition. Since June 2011, she earned 24 awards for her USC Thesis film Tsuyako - including two Academy Award qualification by winning Best International Short Film at Guanajuato International Film Festival and Foyle International Film Festival, Best Female Director from the Director’s Guild of America Student Film Awards; the Future Filmmaker Award from the Palm Springs International ShortFest, and 10 Audience Awards from festivals worldwide. The film still visits festivals around the world. Her most recent work includes Subaru’s Dramatic Cinema Series; commercial and a short film that features Subaru’s traditional car models to their brand new sports car BRZ, which is currently ranked top on Youtube amongst all Japanese advertisement.
