Year Of The Child

Synopsis: 
After running out on his family, Paint-sniffing, Punk teenager Tommy races to escape the sick and violent others chasing him through deserted morning streets. Back at the house Mum is acting strange, and scared younger sister Lily needs rescue, Tommy's drug-induced visions say everything is okay, but reality bites, you can see the blood round it's mouth. Can Tommy grow-up and get home? Backed by a wicked late '70s Auckland Punk soundtrack, 'year of the child' is a short, sharp coming of age shock. A solvent-driven Punk-laced fantasy set in small town New Zealand.

  
Biographies: 

Julie Trlin - Producer

Julie has been producing independent short films and music videos
  since 2008. Her work has been recognised throughout New Zealand and
  her latest short film ‘year of the child’ has been selected for Film
  Festivals in the UK, US, Australia, and New Zealand. She enjoys
  working with edgy subject-matter and engaging with filmmakers bring
  their strange and perverse visions to audiences all over the world.
  Adam Simpson - Director, Editor, Writer
  Adam has been directing and editing his own short films for a decade.
  His films have screened at independent festivals throughout the world.
  He is currently developing a feature-length documentary on the
  history of Professional Wrestling in New Zealand. By day he works for
  New Zealand’s flagship news network as a video editor and runs a
  post-production company.

Jared Mason - DOP

Jared’s work in news and current affairs has been recognised by New
 Zealand’s Film and television awards twice. He has a passion for
 cinematography and a unique ‘run-and-gun’ style which suited ‘year of
 the child’ perfectly.

Mel Dodge (Sandra)

Mel is a professional actress who holds a BA in Theatre Studies and
English. She has worked all over the the world and is currently based
in Melbourne, Australia.

Tim MacDonald (Tommy)

Although young, Tim has featured in three short films including ‘year
of the child’. his most recent short film ‘sammy’ was a regional
finalist in New Zealand’s largest short film competition. He also
dedicates his time to the stage and is studying theatre.
