The Skeleton Ballet

Synopsis: Sophie struggles through rehearsal under her Instructor’s harsh criticism as auditions loom. After secretly watching her strongest competitor deliver a flawless performance, her anxiety spirals and she retreats to practice. Alone, Sophie battles both the choreography and a reflection that torments her. When she falls out of another turn, something breaks. She finds herself bingeing in the kitchen until the Instructor discovers and mocks her. Humiliated, Sophie locks herself in a bathroom stall and forces herself to vomit before rushing to the stage, late and shaken. Then she dances. The judges are captivated by her haunting artistry, each beautiful movement seeming to cost her something. As the routine builds, the lights fade until only a skeleton remains, dancing in Sophie’s place. It takes its final bow in the spotlight before the lights rise again, revealing Sophie lying motionless on the floor.

Please arrive up to an hour prior to the screening to ensure you get into the screening before the film starts, especially if you want concessions.
We reserve the right to not allow late admissions into the theatre once a film has started. Please arrive early.
Please be kind and patient with our festival and theatre staff. Everyone is working hard to provide a great festival experience.
Please exit the theatre promptly and take all items and trash with you when exiting the theatre to ensure plenty of time for the theatre to sanitize between screenings.
