BIOGRAPHIES

Gemma Paul

Award winning Writer and Director who focuses on finding the beauty within Horror. Specialising in re-invention of old tales and characters, she finds a way to bring a new and unique twist to them, elevating them one step into the future while remembering the past. 

After several years of working in business she left at the age of 30 to pursue her long-held dreams of working in the film industry. In 2017 she undertook training at DFMA Makeup Academy. After some time working as a makeup artist she found her mind wandering to story rather than art, so in July 2018 she started to write, produce and develop her own films. 

Her goal is to produce visual content that resonates with viewers, and to bring a new level to independent production. Her first short film ‘Underland’, was completed in July 2018 and has been the recipient of numerous Official Film Festival Selections as well as earned awards and distribution deals. 

Her second short film ‘Adam’, completed in April 2019 and has recently hit the festival circuit. Already it has gained a number of awards from the US market. 

She is a strong advocate for Women in Film and Women in Horror, and continues to push to gain a better standing for women in the industry.
