Emma Schwartz

Emma Schwartz is a documentary producer and filmmaker based in the San Francisco Bay Area. She holds a masters in Documentary Filmmaking from the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism.

A native New Yorker, Emma has also lived and worked in Argentina, Dominican Republic, Israel and Palestine. 

She began her career as a photo editor and producer, working at magazines such as TIME, GQ, Time Out and Seventeen from 2011-2016.

In 2015, she began directing an independent documentary series exploring modern sex work in the United States. Completely enthralled with this project, Emma left photo editing to pursue documentary filmmaking full time. 

Soon after, she was honored to be an Associate Producer for the series “Postcards From The Great Divide," a series of 10 short films which premiered on PBS and the Washington Post leading up to the 2016 U.S. Presidential Election.

After moving to the Middle East in 2016, she worked as a freelance multimedia reporter in Israel, Palestine and Jordan. 

Emma is currently a Master’s Candidate at the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism, concentrating on Documentary Filmmaking.
